Here are some shots from visit to the Mystic Seaport Museum on June 26, 2009:
>Clint Chase, and Drake, a beautiful rowing boat of his design.
A happy Ken Ford, showing off the custom dagger board for his very modified Caladonia Yawl Xena.
Ken Ford explaining the virtues of his craft. Xena is a little rough around the edges, but she does exactly the job Ken wants.
Another Caladonia Yawl, the Patina. We had a nice chat with her owner, who has built her to an exacting standard of perfection. This is the simplest form of a CY, but everything was done just right.
The rudder head and boomkin on Patina.
Tara standing in front of the Charles Morgan. What a delicate little vessel....
Harry Bryan's first Lady Bug. An article was just published about her in WoodenBoat. There is a wheel under the box in the stern, so, with the oars stowed as shown, she can be wheeled down a beach like a wheel barrow. She is a handsome little thing and we had a lovely chat with Mr. Bryan.
At the other end of the spectrum, this is the M/V Enticer out of Newport. We saw no captains of industry, just a couple of very busy crew.
A neat fitting to hold a fender line. I wonder what their varnish budget is each year? If you have to ask....
The Penobscot 14 Tenderness. The quality of her finish would rival that of the best grand piano.
